We are currently implementing a project on Empowering Girls with Hearing Impairments, Household Members and Community Leaders to Fight against Violence Against girls with hearing Impairments. The project also builds the capacity of deaf girls so that they are economically empowered. This project is implemented in partnership with MADRE. It targets 40 deaf girls in the two sub-counties of Wakiso district (Mende and Kakiri Town Council).
Main project activities includes: mobilization of beneficiaries, conducting a simple Needs Assessment, training deaf girls and their families in human rights and how to avoid abuse, training the deaf girls in simple income generation activities ( focusing mainly on catering and baking) holding orientation meeting with 35 local leaders, holding 8 community committee meetings to discuss and act on cases of violence against deaf girls , reviewing the organization policies and teaching the Board of Directors in social media handling.
