I need to clear some space on my shelves, so I need to part with some of my collection. When I heard that White Ensign Models had closed down a few years ago, I bought a bunch of their stuff while it was still on the shelves. I think Atlantic Models has stepped in to bring back their product lines, but I am not sure how long that will last. I am keeping a few for myself and selling off some of the duplicates. This set, WEM #PE2006, is called Supplementary because there is another set (WEM #PE2001) that covers most of the details needed for your big Sovremenny. The set listed here provides additional details not included in that very large set. I could find none of these listed on eBay (a.k.a. rare and hard-to-find!) but as a Top Rated Plus US Seller I can reliably ship this to you very quickly. I won’t do a big write up on this, but here is what I have found online about this particular set: This set is designed to be used with Trumpeter’s fine 1/200 scale Soviet era Sovremenny Class Destroyer Type 956E (TRP 3613). I am not sure what is different between the Soviet version (Type 956) and the Export version (Type 956E) of these ships. Trumpeter has released both as TRP #3612 and #3613, respectively. These big destroyers are breathtaking kits right out of the box, but for those demanding absolute realism and accuracy, the aftermarket guys will always be there to fill the need. The whiteensignmodels.com website has great photo of the fret and identifies the contents of the detailed fret as follows: RBU Tube Fuzing Cable, Mainmast Top Platform, Mainmast Radome Platforms, DF Loop Antenna, DF Antenna Side Loops, Mainmast Rear and Side Lattices, UHF Antennas, Mainmast Front Lattice, Unrep Jib Mounting Bracket, Unrep Platforms (Port & Starboard), Unrep Connection Plates (Port & Starboard), Yardarm Lattice Lower Frames (Port & Starboard), Yardarm Lattices (Port & Starboard), UHF Antenna Box, RBU Fuzing Cables, UHF Antenna Platform Scalemates.com has a listing showing this is a new tooling from 2012 and that it is designed for both Trumpeter 1/200 scale Sovremennys (TRP #3612 and #3613). As I said before, I don’t know why the set would be compatible with just the 956E version since I don’t know what is different between the two. They provide a link to the 7-page instruction set and a few links to aftermarket products. Shar2 posted a First Look Review on the britmodeller.com site. He briefly describes the set, pointing out that some of the extremely fine parts will require a steady hand. His Conclusion was: “An excellent set to supplement the main sheets, (sold separately). If you don’t have any etch for your big Sovremenny, then you need these.”. This set is in a White Ensign Models envelope about 8.5” x 4”. As you can see from the pictures, the envelope is in perfect condition and still sealed, so it is factory sealed and absolutely gift-ready. This item contains dozens of highly detailed pieces on a 140mm x 95mm (5.5” x 3.75”) fret to fine tune elements of your Trumpeter Sovremenny Type 956E (sold separately).
