Parker from Fort Smith, Arkansas, which also happens to be the band’s home base, who ruled the territory from 1875-1896; a characterization of Judge Parker was brought to the big screen in John Wayne’s movies True Grit and sequal Rooster Cogburn, as portrayed by James Westerfield. Years of hard work and dedication has made Judge Parker famous again, this time for music. Staying true to their roots gave them the kind of sound that classic rock and southern rock fans thought was long gone. While on tour in Texas, they met William Lee Golden of the Oak Ridge Boys. Golden saw something very special in this Arkansas band that really fired him up. He gave Larry his home number that night and said, “You need to come to Nashville, I believe in you guys, I love your music and I want to help you”. Everything was finally looking up, they were now getting attention from Golden’s contacts from Nashville, New York, and L.A. Little by little, the band has become known as one of the hardest working bands in the Southern Rock scene, by doing an average of 200 dates per year. Over the years they have shared the stage with Black Oak Arkansas, Big and Rich, Shooter Jennings, The Marshall Tucker Band, Confederate Railroad, Kentucky Headhunters, Molly Hatchet, 38 Special, Jackyl, David Allan Coe, and many more. Judge Parker’s membership includes Larry Pearson on vocals and acoustic guitar, Arthur Pearson on guitar, Vic Lukenbaugh on drums, John Seaberg on bass, and Seth Freeman on guitar. To date, they have issued three albums. This self-titled debut album was produced by Chris Golden, son of William Lee Golden, and came out in 1998. Their second album, Sound Medicine, was recorded at Michael McDonald’s studio in Nashville and was produced by Robin Blakeney and Bud Reneau. Their latest studio effort, Along For The Ride was released 2009. In 2010 Judge Parker made its European tour debut as they played shows in Holland, Belgium, France, and Germany, where a surprisingly fertile Southern Rock scene exists with many long out of print Southern Rock albums being reissued over there, not to mention the formation of some European bands performing original material in the American Southern Rock style. It is not unusual to find small/tiny imperfections on the play side of the CD disc, especially on European manufactured CDs; these small imperfections do no affect the playback of the disc. Also an unsealed jewel case may show light signs of warehouse/transit storage wear on the outer surface of the jewel case. If an unsealed jewel case is received by me broken, it will be replaced with a new jewel case before shipping; sealed CDs received with minor cracked/damaged jewel cases will be noted as such in the item’s description and will be shipped as is. ABBREVIATIONS: SS or SLD: Still Sealed or Sealed. Short abbreviation that will appear in the title line of my listings. This item is new and unplayed. S/T: Self-Titled 2/1: This denotes that 2 albums are on 1 single CD. RE: Reissue. Variations from the original pressing will be noted when known. REMAST: Remastered. MIX: This sometimes appears in my title line and refers to a group’s/artist’s music having a mix of styles such a rock track with jazz then followed by a straight rock track followed by a psych rock track, etc., as opposed to a blues album with the album’s tracks having predominantly one style. XT, XTKS, or #XTKS: Usually in lower case type as part of the title line, denotes bonus tracks on this release (extra track, extra tracks, or the number of extra tracks).
