D-RIB “20 Color Available in 2 sizes” The D-shape on this vinyl ribbing is designed to lie flat on the hook shank as wound. ……Similar to UTC Vinyl Rib except this material is a lot more ” stretchy” allowing the tyer to custom fit the rib to the hook size…..the more pressure you put on the D Rib as you wind it around the hook shank the thinner/smaller it gets……..this allows you to better taper the body just the real insect! The absence of raised edges on the body also helps reduce water resistance. I like to use it for bodies on saltwater flies, making ribs on nymphs, and abdomens on emergers. The selection of colors really helps you fine-tune the overall fly design and presentation. Medium is the Perfect size for hook sizes ranging from 8 to 14. Small works for sizes 16 to 20.
