U & azebuy Shop of toys and models from Ukraine DESCRIPTION Staff Armored Car (DS) USSR 1939-1945 WWII Plastic Model Kit UMT 6631:72 ScaleManufacturer: UM military technicsMaterial: PlasticCondition: New in original packagingHistorical referenceIn the summer of 1934, according to the tactical and technical requirements issued by the Department of Mechanization and Motorization of the Red Army (UMM), it was proposed to make three different types of armored tires – heavy (BDT), transporter (DTR) and headquarters [1]: headquarters armored tires – command and observation post of the commander of an armored train unit for control of the unit both in the stowed position and in battle. But only at the end of 1934, a special workshop of the Moscow railway repair plant (Mozherez plant) manufactured an experimental armored rubber. Like other military developments of this plant, it is designated “E” (experimental model) – E-4 (headquarters). Its chief designer V. Filimonov, the general management of the work was carried out by the head of the design bureau of the plant Mozherez N. Gulenko. [2] When transferred to the troops, the trolley received a new index DSh (headquarters trolley). For the staff armored railcar DSh, the chassis of the motor railcar Ua of the Kaluga Engineering Plant was used without changes. The body was bolted to the chassis frame. The sides were welded from 8 mm armor plates, the roof and floor from 4 mm. In front of the DSh roof was a 16-sided welded turret with a Maxim machine gun in a ball mount and a DT machine gun in a ball mount in the frontal armor plate of the hull. The corps is internally divided into two sections – the headquarters, where the headquarters of the armored train unit is located, and the combat, in which the driver, machine gunner and radio operator are located. For the landing of the headquarters and the crew, there are three doors in the sides of the hull – two on the radiator side (to the combat and staff compartment) and one on the other side to the fighting compartment. It had a hatch for observation, and in front of the driver was a scout periscope for observation when moving under fire. To improve observation, three windows with glass and armored shutters were made on the sides of the headquarters. For the work of the commanders in the headquarters department there was a table, chairs, a typist’s table, a sofa with a lifting bunk and a filing cabinet. The mechanism for lifting and switching to a parallel track consisted of a hydraulic lift with a turntable on a ball bearing and beams.
